Founded in 1979 by poet, Gwen Head, Dragon Gate, Inc. was a small press specializing in poetry and short stories, based in Port Townsend, Washington. Before ceasing operations in 1987, the publishing house produced some twenty volumes. Notable authors whose works were issued by Dragon Gate include Henry Carlile, whose "Running Lights" (1981) was the first work to be published by the press, and Eve Triem, whose "New as a Wave" (1984) was awarded a Western States Book Award.
