Biographical notes:

Cortlandt Whitehead (1842-1922), graduated from Yale in 1863 and was ordained Deacon in Trinity Church, Newark, N.J. in 1867. He left for mission work in Colorado in August 1867, where he served at St. Paul's Church in Central City, St. Mark's Chapel in Black Hawk, and Grace Church in Georgetown. In 1870 he became Rector of the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He was consecrated Bishop of Pittsburgh in 1882.

Cortlandt Whitehead (1842-1922) was born in New York City, N.Y. and in the 1860s and 1870s served as a clergyman at St. Mark's Chapel in Black Hawk, Colo. and also at Grace Episcopal Church in Georgetown, Colo. He later became a Bishop of the Protestant Episcopal Church in Pittsburgh, Penn.
