Klamath Forest Protective Association
Biographical notes:
The Klamath Forest Protective Association is a non-profit organization representing all private forest landowners in the Klamath-Lake District of Oregon. At the time of its founding in 1908 as the Klamath-Lake Counties Forest Fire Association, it was the first fire protection association in Oregon. Its aims were fire suppression and insect infestation reductions in Klamath and Lake counties of Oregon. In 1922 the name was changed to the Klamath Forest Protective Association, but its objectives remained the same. In 1975 the organization transferred its direct fire fighting activities to the Oregon Department of Forestry. It continues to work closely with the Oregon Department of Forestry on fire and insect protection and other activities related to private forest lands in Klamath and Lake counties.
