Biographical notes:

Radio executive. Born January 11, 1899. Died March 19, 1989. Began radio career in 1924 at WLS Chicago where he was an important contributor to the development of the National Barn Dance. Career also included work at WLW Cincinnati, WSB Atlanta, and WLBK DeKalb, Illinois. Retired from radio in 1964.

Born January 11, 1899, George Cecil Biggar grew up in Aurora, South Dakota and attended South Dakota State College, earning an M.S. in Dairy Husbandry in 1922. Biggar was a pioneer in early radio broadcasting, particularly as it related to agriculture and rural life. His radio career spanned four decades, from 1924 to 1964.
