Jewish Community Council (Cleveland, Ohio)
Biographical notes:
The Jewish Community Council of Cleveland was established by the Jewish Welfare Federation of Cleveland, Ohio (now known as the Jewish Community Federation), in 1935, to provide a voice for more segments of the local Jewish community. It dealt with community relations, fought anti-Semitism, and created Jewish cultural projects. By 1951, the Council became more involved in broader questions of community planning and policy, and merged with the Jewish Welfare Federation, becoming the Jewish Community Federation. The Council became known as the Community Relations Committee of the Federation.
