Matthews, Gary, b. ca. 1821.
Biographical notes:
A native of North Carolina and a wagon-maker, Matthews enlisted in Company I, 38th Indiana Infantry at Paoli, Ind. in August 1861. After serving in Kentucky, Matthews was discharged "by permission" in April 1862.
