Nestor, Gregg

Biographical notes:

Miklós Rózsa (1907-1995) was an award-winning Hungarian-American composer. He composed orchestral, chamber, and choral works, and in the 1940s began composing for Hollywood movies, eventually winning three Oscars. He was Professor of Film Music at the University of Southern California for twenty years, conducted worldwide concert performances and recordings, maintained a collection of fine art, and wrote his autobiography, Double Life: The Autobiography of Miklós Rózsa .

Gregg Nestor is an American musician, soloist, accompanist and arranger. He has recorded and broadcast in Holland, Belgium, Spain and for the BBC in London. Many works arranged by Nestor for solo/duo guitars or with various ensembles have been published, among them Miklós Rózsa Collection: Music For Guitar . Between 1986 and 1991, he worked with Rozsa preparing several compositions for performance, recording, and commercial publication. Due to Rozsa's failing eyesight, Nestor spent several visits notating and realizing Rozsa's ideas on paper; the manuscripts in this collection in Nestor's hand are the final versions approved by Rozsa.
