Lindquist was a staff member of the Horn Book (the Boston publisher) from 1948 to 1958 and was editor of its "Horn Book Magazine". She was also head of the Children's Department at the Albany Public Library, a lecturer and librarian at the University of New Hampshire, and worked in the John Mistletoe Bookshop, Albany, New York.
