John W. King, a medical doctor of Covington, Kentucky, was married to Ann Ruffin Barrow Benoit of West Feliciana Parish, Louisiana. He was president of the Newport Manufacturing Company in Newport, Kentucky.

B. from Columbia University, 1943; became one of only three Democratic governors in New Hampshire during the twentieth century; started first modern state lottery from which he developed a statewide university system; died August 9, 1996.
