Thomas Hamilton, 6th Earl of Haddington, was a Scottish peer and land improver. A strong supporter of the 1707 Union with England, he fought against the Jacobites in 1715. He was known for writing pornographic verse and for his planting and forestry on the family estates. His short treatise on forestry was published posthumously in 1756 as an appendix to John Reid's Scots Gard'ner, and separately in 1761 as Treatise on the Manner of Raising Forest Trees.
