Biographical notes:
Helmuth Heinrich Diedrich Holtz (1833-1915) was born in Schleswig. He was an artist, sailor, and Union soldier who visited Texas ports in 1860 and did sketches of Matagorda and Indianola that were reproduced as engravings.
