Chester Bliss was born in Springfield, Ohio, in 1899. B.A., Ohio State U., 1921; M.A., Columbia, 1922, Ph.D., 1926; asso. entomologist, U.S. Dept. of Agri., New Orleans, 1926-1929, entomologist, Mexico City, 1928, Whittier, Calif, 1930-1933; mem. Inst. Plant Protection, Leningrad, 1935-1937; biometrician Conn. Agr. Exptl. Station, New Haven, 1940-1971; biometrician Storrs, Conn. Expt. Sta., 1940-1953; lecturer at Yale, 1942-1967, 1972. Bliss died in 1979.
