Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, a private not for profit organization, was founded in 1976 as Indianapolis Clean City. The name was changed in 1997 to better reflect its efforts in the community. It is an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, Inc., the national organization dedicated to preserving the natural beauty and environment in American communities. Keep Indianapolis Beautiful is supported by a professional service contract with the City of Indianapolis, corporations, foundations, civic groups, and individual volunteers, and has won many awards both local and national.
