Biographical notes:

Ruth Clark Perry was a mathematics professor at the University of Chattanooga, where she had been a member of the faculty for 33 years (1922-1955). She was born in Portland, Maine, the daughter of Lewis S. Perry and Mrs. Alice Clark Perry. Her family moved to Chattanooga while she was young, where she received her elementary education. In 1922 she joined the faculty at the University of Chattanooga, and worked in the Mathematics Department. She became head of the Mathematics Department in 1933 and served as Dean of Women to the University from 1929 to 1946. Along with that, Ms. Perry served as treasurer of the Chattanooga Art Association and was one of the founders of the League of Women Voters, and the Chattanooga branch of the American Association of University Women. Ruth Clark Perry died on November 28, 1955.
