Biographical notes:

The Advisory Committee on and Office of World Mission and Service was directed by the General Secretary of the U.S.A. National Committee of the Lutheran World Federation (USANC). The Advisory Committee's primary function was to give special attention to the activities and requests of the LWF Commissions on Latin America, World Mission and World Service. It also was responsible for receiving and screening requests for subsidies to be channeled to ecumenical agencies and for acting for the USANC with respect to its responsibilities and commitments to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania, East Africa.

After the LWF's organizational restructuring in 1970, the USANC's Office of World Mission and Service became the Office of Church Cooperation and Service to coordinate its work to that of its parent body.
