Biographical notes:

Paul Allman Siple (b. December 18, 1908, Montpelier, Ohio-d. November 25, 1968, Arlington, Virginia), American Antarctic explorer and protege of explorer Richard E. Byrd. Siple was a member of three Antarctic expeditions from 1928 to 1941. He worked to develop cold weather clothing and with Charles F. Passel, developed the concept of wind chill factor, a term he coined during his work.
