Biographical notes:
Born 1892. Graduated from the United States Military Academy, 1915, Coast Artillery Advanced Course, 1927, Command and General Staff School, 1928, Army War College, 1932, and Naval War College, 1933. Promoted to Colonel, 1941. Assigned to the Statistics Branch, Army-Navy Munitions Board, 1942-1943. Commanding Officer of the 7th Army Garrison Force stationed on Kwajalein Island in the Marshall Islands, 1943-1944. Promoted to Brigadier General, 1944. Transferred to the 55th Coast Artillery Regiment, 1944.
