Biographical notes:

Presbyterian minister and pastor of Presbyterian Church of Beech Island, S.C. near Augusta, Ga. A native of Massachusetts, Hopkins also pastored a church in Troy (N.Y.) and later returned to Massachusetts where he became a businessman and politician.
