Biographical notes:

Sol Levine, 1922-1996, BA, Queen's College; PhD, New York University; was director of the Social Science Program at the Harvard School of Public Health from 1963 to 1968 before leaving for academic appointments at Johns Hopkins' School of Hygiene and Public Health and Boston University's Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Levine returned to Harvard School of Public Health in 1990 as Professor of Health Behavior and served as interim chair of the Department of Health and Social Behavior from 1993 to 1995. Levine's research focused on medical sociology, particularly the recovery of heart attack patients, social stress, and the quality of life of patients within the medical care system.
