Dowden, William M.

Biographical notes:

William M. Dowden was born in Indiana and taught school in that state for 10 years before entering the business college field. Before coming to Lansing, he was the manager of the Brown Business College at Moline, Illinois. He purchased the Lansing Business University in 1920. He was the president of the institution for twelve years. Dowden was a leader in his field. He was the regional director of the National Association of Accredited Commercial Schools, and a member of the National Commercial Teachers' Association. He was an active member of the Lansing Kiwanis Club, the Masonic fraternity and the First Universalist Church of Our Father.
