Biographical notes:

A meeting for worship during the winter months was established at Esiskunk Creek by Burlington Monthly Meeting in 1682/3; later that year the meeting was permitted to meet on a year-round basis. From 1685-94, the name of the meeting was Birch Creek. In 1694, it became known as Springfield. After the establishment of Upper Springfield in ca. 1728, the meeting was known as Old Springfield or, occasionally, Lower Springfield; it was also known informally as Copany. A preparative meeting was established in 1776, and until 1781, Old Springfield was a preparative meeting of both Burlington and Mount Holly Monthly Meetings. In 1781, it was attached to Burlington only. The Orthodox preparative meeting and meeting for worship were discontinued in 1835; the members were transferred to Mount Holly Preparative Meeting (Orthodox). The Hicksite preparative meeting was discontinued ca. 1914.
