Biographical notes:

The Brewerton family lived in New York City. Members mentioned in this collection include James, George, and Catharine (Mrs. George) Brewerton, who lived at 27 Pearl Street. James was a merchant. George died ca.1808, and William and George R. A. Ricketts, merchants of New York City, paid some bills associated with his estate. The papers do not reveal the relationship between the two families. Other Ricketts mentioned include George's uncle Jacob and Mrs. Mary Ricketts.
