Biographical notes:
Collection pertains to the Clarkson family who were early settlers of Potsdam and operated a stone quarry and had other business interests. Clarkson University was founded as a memorial to Thomas S. Clarkson (1837-1894) by his sisters, Elizabeth, Frederica, and Lavinia.
