Biographical notes:

Musk is an entrepreneur who has been involved in various ventures relating to the Internet, space transportation, electric cars, and solar energy. His first company was Zip2, an Internet software company that he co-founded In 1995. After selling Zip2 in 1999, Musk founded X.com, an online banking firm which eventually acquired PayPal, the online payment transaction system. After leaving PayPal, Musk founded SpaceX, a company devoted to developing space exploration technologies with the goal of facilitating commercial space travel. Musk has also been involved as the chairman of SolarCity, a company that designs and installs solar power systems. In addition, he has been the primary investor, chairman, product architect, and CEO of Tesla Motors, a company that develops electric cars.
