Biographical notes:

An editorial function existed in the National Collection of Fine Arts from early times. The more recent history of that work begins in 1968, when Georgia M. Rhoades was made Editor, National Collection of Fine Arts, serving through 1972. From 1973 to 1984 Carroll S. Clark was Editor, succeeded by Gaye L. Brown, Chief of the Office of Publications, who served from 1985 to 1988. From 1989 to 1993 Terence Winch was in charge of the Office. Steven Dietz served as Chief, 1993-1995. The position remained vacant until Theresa Slowik became acting head of the Office, 1999- .

About 1995 the Office was renamed the Office of Publications and New Media Initiatives. In 1999 the name changed to the Office of Publications and Electronic Publications. Around 2000 the name again changed to the Office of Print and Electronic Publications.
