Biographical notes:

The Skinner family is considered to be the first family to permanently settle in the village of Mapleview, New York (formerly Union Square). Avery Skinner was the founder of the village in 1822, after immigrating from Chesterfield, New Hampshire. His accomplishments include being the first postmaster of the region, Associate Judge of the County Court, County Treasurer, County Assemblyman, State Senator, and President of the Village.
