Biographical notes:

Writer, teacher, and political satirist Felicia Lamport graduated from Vassar College in 1937 and worked as a reporter for the New York Evening Journal. She was the author of Scrap Irony (1961), Cultural Slag (1966), and Light Metres (1982), among others, and her book reviews, articles, and verse appeared in many magazines including the Atlantic, Harper's, and the New Yorker. Her satiric verse was featured regularly in the Boston Globe, the Baltimore Sun, the Louisville Courier-Journal, and the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Lamport was married to Harvard Law School Professor Benjamin Kaplan and taught writing at Harvard University and Harvard Extension School. She died in December 1999.
