Biographical notes:

Ward, known as Earl, (Amherst College 1906) worked for the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions (ABCFM) in Harpoot, Turkey (1909-1913) and in India with the YMCA (1916-1932). He was with the YMCA in Boston and Brockton, Mass. (1913-1916); Manchester, NH (1932-1936) and Lebanon, NH (1936-1950). His twin brother Mark, (1884-1952, AC 1906), was a medical missionary in Turkey and Beirut (1915-1923) and medical secretary for the ABCFM (1923-1952). Brother Edwin St. John (1880-1951, AC 1900) was a medical missionary in Turkey and Beirut (1907-1911; 1947-1948) and on the staff of the American University of Beirut (1911-1931). Sisters Laura D. Ward and Ruth Beach were missionaries in China and Mary Isabella (1874-1960) was missionary in Turkey. Their father, Langdon S. (1828-1895) was treasurer of the ABCFM for some 29 years. Their mother, Laura A. (1846-1914) was the daughter of Isabella Holmes Porter Bliss (died 1896) and Edwin Elisha Bliss (1817-1892, AC 1837) who were missionaries in Turkey.
