Biographical notes:

Herbert G. Fales was a metallurgist and an aviation pioneer. He started as a Navy officer in charge of testing metals for the Curtis Aircraft Company during World War I. After graduating from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology he pursued a 45 year career with the International Nickel Company as a metallurgist on various aircraft and automobile projects connected with different companies.
