Lindstrom, Ernest W.
Biographical notes:
Geneticist. Lindstrom (1891-1948) received his degree (1914) from the University of Wisconsin and his Ph. D (1917) from Cornell University. From 1917-1919 he served in the Air Force, and from 1919-1922 was an Assistant Professor of Genetics at the University of Wisconsin. He established a new Genetics Department (1922-1948) at Iowa State University and was also the Vice-Dean (1937- ) of the Graduate School. In 1944-1945 Lindstrom also established a Department of Genetics at the National University of Medellin, Colombia.
Dr. Lindstrom's research interests included inheritance, linkage relations, maize and tomato genetics. Lindstrom was a member of the following organizations: Genetics Society of America, American Society of Naturalists, Botanical Society of America, American Genetic Association, Iowa Academy of Science, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
