Biographical notes:

Louis Akin (1868-1913) was a painter famous for his images of southwest. In 1903 Akin was hired by the Sante Fe Railway to paint images of the Hopi Indians and the Grand Canyon. He was working on a project for the American Museum of Natural History when he died in 1913.
