Esther Allen Peterson was born March 9, 1934, in Carson, ND. She spent her first seven years on the North Dakota prairie, and then her family moved to Philadelphia. In her teen years they moved to Port St. Joe, Florida. As the wife of a Lutheran pastor in a small town in northern Minnesota, she began a writing career.
