Lipscomb family, planters of South Carolina and Alabama, chiefly descendents of John (fl. 1791) and Sally Lipscomb (b. 1767), among them Smith Lipscomb, Jr. (b. 1804) and his wife Sally Draper Lipscomb (1806- 1875) of Spartanburg District, S.C., and, after 1844, of Benton County, Ala.
