Knights of the White Camellia (1867-1868).

Dates:
Active 1867
Active 1868

Biographical notes:

Organized by Col. Alcibiades DeBlanc in 1867 May, the Knights were most active in La. and Miss., though they were also active in Ala. and Texas. Considered a part of the loosely confederated Reconstruction era Ku Klux Klan, the Knights and the other Ku Kluxers inherited a tradition of vigilantism and racism which they only exacerbated by practicing intimidation, coercion, whippings, and murder. The Knights are generally considered the most disciplined of the several Ku Klux organizations.
