Biographical notes:

Frederick Walter Robinson, known as "Doc Robbie", was appointed lecturer in Modern Languages at the University of Queensland in 1922. He developed resources for the study of Australian literature and history through the Fryer Memorial Library of Australian literature.

Frederick Robinson joined the staff of the newly opened Royal Military College, Duntroon in 1931 as Assistant Professor of Modern Languages. He pursued a successful military career, as well as being involve with languages, literature and fine arts. He was Associated Professor of English at the University of Queensland from 1946 to 1958. Among his major achievements is the book "Canberra's first hundred years" (1924).
