William Jenks Lewis (1870-1960), a cattleman, settled in the early 1850s near Clarendon, Texas, where he remained the rest of his life. He bought and sold cattle in the Texas Panhandle, New Mexico, and Kansas, often in partnership with John Molesworth and Theodore Pyle. In 1910, he leased the Spur Ranch.
