Tuckerman, Eliot.

Biographical notes:

Eliot Tuckerman was born in New York City on March 12, 1872, the son of Gustavus and Emily Goddard (Lamb) Tukerman. In 1915, Tuckerman married Mary Ludlow Powell Fowler in New York City. They had one daughter, Emily Lamb Tuckerman (Mrs. Henry Freeman Allen).

Tuckerman received his A.B. (cum laude) from Harvard College in 1894 and his LL.B (cum laude) from Harvard Law School in 1897. He was accepted into the bar in 1898 and by 1899, Tuckerman was working with the firm of Evarts, Choate & Beaman in New York City. A lawyer's ledger (HLS MS 524) records that by 1947, Tuckerman had succeded Clifford A. Hand's New York law firm and what was Hand's firm had become Jones, Bleeker & Tuckerman.
