Professor at Charles University in Prague; director, Polarographical Institute, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in Prague; member of the Royal Bohemian Learned Society of the Czech Academy of Sciences and Arts; member of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic; recipient, Nobel Prize in chemistry, 1959.
