Biographical notes:

The Equal Opportunity Office at Florida Technological University was created in response to the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This act and subsequent others meant implementing policies for equal education and affirmative action programs and necessitated compiling all the university's records dealing with salary, employment, recruitment, and enrollment of minorities and women. Originally the program was managed by a university administrator, the Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action was established in 1979 with its own director and staff.
