Biographical notes:

Zion United Church of Christ traces its origin to 1842, when a German Reformed ministerial student was sent from Lancaster to preach in the Conestoga, Millersville, and Rohrerstown area. The congregation shared a sanctuary, known as the "Union Church of Millerstown," with Lutheran and Moravian congregations from 1844 to 1870. In that year, the congregations separated and the German Reformed members organized Zion's Reformed Church. The congregation became known as Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church when the Reformed Church in the United States merged with the Evangelical Synod of North America in 1934. In 1957, the church underwent another name change when its governing body merged with the General Council of the Congregational and Christian Churches of the United States to form the United Church of Christ.
