William L. Mallory, a native of Cincinnati's West End, served as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from Hamilton County from 1967 to 1994 and as Ohio's first African-American Majority Floor Leader from 1975 to 1994. He graduated from Central State University and taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Cincinnati. He was active in numerous organizations and has received many honors. In 1986, he filed a lawsuit which resulted in the establishment of districts for the election of judges to the Hamilton County Municipal Court.
