Department of Materials Science and Engineering: During the 1969-1970 school year, the Divison of Materials Science and Engineering began its undergraduate program. Prior to this it was strictly a program designed for graduate students. The division's main focus was on the engineering of materials such as ceramics, metals, and polymers.
