She was active at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography from 1983-1997 as Assistant to the Associate Research Oceanographer and Director of SIO Physical Oceanography Research Division. At CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization), she was Chief of Division, Marine Research, Tasmania, 1997-.
