Herbert Oliver Brayer (1913-) was an American historian during the twentieth century. An expert on the economic history of the American West, Brayer was born in Montreal, Canada and educated at the University of Southern California and the University of New Mexico. He served as Director of the Western Range Cattle Industry Study (1944-1949) and authored a number of books concerning the economic history of the American West, including "William Blackmore, A Case Study in the Economic Development of the West" (1949)
