George Willcox McIver (1858-1947), a native of Carthage, N.C., was the son of Alexander McIver, a noted North Carolina educator, and Mary Ann Willcox. He served for forty years in the United States military, including duty in the United States, Alaska, Cuba, France, and the Philippine Islands.
