Clifford McCormick Ulp (1885-1957) was born in 1885 to George and Cordelia (maiden name Brown) Ulp. After attending Rochester's East High School, he graduated from the School of Applied Art at the Rochester Athenaeum and Mechanics Institute (RAMI) in 1908. RAMI was renamed the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1944. He began teaching at RAMI in 1913 and served as the director of the school's art and design program from 1921 until his retirement in 1952. He was named a Fellow of the Rochester Museum of Arts and Sciences in 1943, served as a board member for the University of Rochester's Memorial Art Gallery, served as president of the Rochester Art Club from 1926 to 1932, and received an award from the Rochester Art Club in 1939. Remembered primarily for his landscapes, many of his illustrations appeared in the Saturday Evening Post and Country Gentlemen. His work titled "Allenby's Entrance into Damascus," hung in the National Art Gallery in Washington, DC. The piece was created for a World War I bond drive. Ulp married Ruth M. Huntley on October 4, 1913. The couple had one daughter. He died on January 22, 1958.

Clifford Ulp was born in 1885 in Olean, New York. He attended Rochester's East High School and graduated from the Mechanics Institute (a precursor to RIT) in 1908. Five years later he returned to RIT to teach illustration and drawing. Ulp remained at RIT for 39 years, serving as the head of the Art and Design department from 1920 until his retirement in 1952. Ulp is remembered primarily for his landscapes. He was a popular public speaker and well-known figure in Rochester in the 1920s and early 1930s, during which time he served as president of the Rochester Art Club. Clifford Ulp died at age 72 in 1958. Later that year, he was posthumously awarded the RIT Outstanding Alumni award.
