Biographical notes:
George Gerald Henderson was born on the 30 June 1862 . His father George Henderson is recorded as being a merchant. Henderson attended Glasgow University and in 1881 obtained his Bachelor of Science. He went on to graduate in 1884 with his Master of Arts, and in 1890 with his Doctor of Science. He obtained his Doctor of Laws in 1938 . In 1916 he was made a Fellow of the Royal Society. Henderson also was awarded a Honorary Doctor of Science from Belfast and a Honorary Doctor of Laws from St Andrews. In 1919 he was appointed the Professor of Chemistry at Glasgow University. He held this post until 1937 . In 1925 he was appointed as the Senate's Assessor, a position he retained for eight years. George Gerald Henderson died on the 28 September 1942 .
