Planters and physicians of Newberry and Columbia, S.C.; James McIntosh was 1860 grad. of Medical College of S.C., and husband of Frances Caldwell Higgins (1837-1890) and Sarah Burt Rook Boozer (b.1862); James Higgins McIntosh (1866-1944) was 1886 grad. of Johns Hopkins and 1888 grad. of College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York, chief of staff of Baptist Hospital, Columbia, S.C., and husband of Frances Nance Baxter (1870-1930); Lucas McIntosh (1845-1901) was husband of Rosa Evans McIntosh (1849-1934).
