Junior League of the City of New York

Collecting area: Material pertaining to the Junior League of the City of New York.
Founded in 1901, its original purpose remains the performance of community service work. Over 1800 trained women volunteers are members. Services provided include work with children and child abuse, adoption, education, the elderly, museums, women and abused women, rape, drug and alcohol abuse, advocacy work with the New York State Legislature, and teaching English to foreign-born professional people.

An annual ball sponsored by the Junior League and held in New York City.
It was televised, numerous personalities in the entertainment field attended, and it served as a major fund raiser for the Junior League to provide support for the Welfare Trust Fund, a charitable organization.
