Concord (Mass.). War History Committee

Dates:
Active 1917
Active 1948

Biographical notes:

At a town meeting held Mar. 3, 1947 the Concord War History Committee was created. Its members were chosen by the Town Moderator; Miss Sarah R. Bartlett, Librarian of the Concord Free Public Library, was elected chairman. The purpose of this Committee was to compile war records of Concord men and women who served in World War I and World War II; and, when completed, to publish the records in book form. The Committee engaged the services of Mrs. Bernice C. Seavey to compile the data.

(Cont.) Most material for WWI was taken from the Concord town report of 1920; most material for WWII was taken from records given to the Concord War History Committee by the Concord War Records Committee. In 1948 the town voted that the war records should not be published in book form. The committee was disbanded. By vote, the records from both the Concord War Records Committee and Concord War History Committee were placed in the Concord Free Public Library.
